My own unique style of bodywork created in 2014 combines aspects of Movement & Structural Integration, multiple Massage Therapy modalities (Trigger Point Theory, Sports & Injury Rehabilitation, Shiatsu & Acupressure, Cranial Sacral Therapy, etc), Gua Sha, Cupping Therapy, Vibrational Tools, Dynamic Stretching, Reflexology, Hydrotherapy, Aromatherapy, Pain Science, Trauma Integration, and Neuropsychology all influenced by my personal experience with rehabilitation from severe injuries. I continuously hone my Battle Worn BodyWork technique on the 20,000+ clients I have served to date.

I utilize my technique to release movement restrictions and tissue dysfunctions allowing for proper range of motion throughout the entire body. The result encompasses retrained movement patterns and proper functioning of different body segments and the body as a whole. In making these corrections to the tissues, a somatic and emotional response occurs. This is when the muscles, organs and other tissues of the body release trapped emotions which can be expressed as laughing, crying, shaking, yelling or other individual release responses. This frees blockages and old patterns leading to awareness of your body and your movements through life.

Rehabilitating injury, pain or decreased mobility, through BreathWork or BodyWork, also allows Somatic Emotional Release. Processing emotions is the goal so that a shift occurs from autopilot into the freedom to live an authentic life.

The basis for many theories and techniques of deep tissue bodywork and movement education today were developed by Dr. Ida Rolf and later coined as “Rolfing”. This is a mixture of physical manipulation and allowing for the psychosomatic material to present when correcting the body structure. Dr. Rolf believed 20th Century medicine being chemically and not structurally oriented, created the false belief that pills and shots would solve all physical and emotional dysfunctions or imbalances. Her theory was aligning the body’s fascia and lengthening shortened tissues to allow for correct movement and structural integration would facilitate a positive relationship with gravity.
Trauma research is pointing to unresolved emotions or traumatic events being trapped in the body’s tissues and the nervous system. These experiences may lead to chronic tension, restricted movement and other physical or emotional imbalances. SER facilitates the release and integration of those emotions allowing for healing and restoration of the physical and emotional bodies. Battle Worn Bodywork is one of the modalities in which SER can occur presenting as possible physical outcomes: shaking, crying, trembling, screaming, laughing, stretching, fascial unwinding, etc.
